September 16, 2024So very sad to hear the news about John’s passing. We shared a house as students and he was an amazing and enduring support when my first husband Stephen died in an accident in the middle of their medical finals.
I loved his wit and cheery disposition and was so glad that we reconnected latterly and spent time with him and Julie when they came over to the UK/Europe, including a memorable day managing to meet up in Barcelona!
Sending love and condolences to Julie, Lauren, Emilie, Hannah and Oliver

September 16, 2024A Tribute to My Dear Friend, Dr. John Charles Dyson-Berry
It is with a heavy heart that I write this tribute to my dear friend, Dr. John Charles Dyson-Berry, who passed away on the 8th of September 2024. The news of your passing has left an immeasurable void in my heart and the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing you.
Our friendship began in the most unexpected of ways. In early November 2023, we first met on a flight to Sydney, where fate had placed us side by side. As if by design, we found ourselves on the same return flight to Mildura, and from that moment on, a bond was formed that would forever shape my life. I was to start General practice in about a week, and you, with your warm and open spirit, instantly became more than just a colleague—you became a friend.
You introduced me to your wonderful wife, Jules, and together, you both welcomed me into your lives with such warmth and kindness. From the very beginning, I felt a connection with you, a friendship that grew deeper in such a short time. I found in you a confidant, someone with whom I could share my thoughts and challenges. It felt so natural, especially when I realized you were the same age as my dad. Yet, despite that, you always called me “bro,” with a familiarity and camaraderie that made me feel seen and valued.
You were always there—reassuring, present, and full of life. Knowing you were in Room 4 was a comfort to me. I could always count on our little hallway chats before I left the office, or the jokes we shared. Your selflessness, your unwavering care for others, was something that set you apart. You were always willing to go above and beyond, not just for your patients, but for your colleagues and friends.
I’ll miss those “young man” jokes, the laughs we shared during our 1 p.m. lunch catch-ups, and how you made every day in the clinic just a little brighter. You were more than just my colleague—you were my gist partner, my friend, someone who made the everyday moments memorable.
You left your footprints in the sand of time, John. You lived with a purpose, touched lives with your compassion, and always gave more than was asked of you. In you, I saw a mentor, someone who shared my values and passions. Whenever I reached out to you, no matter how small the request, you gave your all. You’ve left a mark on my life that I will carry with me always.
I choose to celebrate your life, to honor the friendship and the many moments we shared. I will miss you greatly, my friend. Thank you for being a part of my life, for your guidance, and for your friendship. You may be gone, but your memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved you.
Rest in peace, John. You will be missed, but never forgotten.
September 17, 2024It’s with profound sadness and grief we say farewell. The depth of your loss is only matched by our collective gratitude of having known you. You lit up the room every morning you entered our premise with an exquisitely dazzling, way too colourful bow tie that matched your smile, wry wit and entertaining larger than life personality. You began with a lame attempt in your posh Yorkshire accent to greet our Italian friend with a boisterous “Buongiorno” followed by “good morning dear sir, can I have my coffee with cream please”. We will miss this – we will miss you!
Your life touched the hearts of many in our community and for that we honour you.
Your smile and genuine warmth infected the hearts of everyone who were blessed to have met you, and for that we thank you.
You leave this world a better place for having you with us, for that we are eternally grateful. With all our love, prayers and deepest sympathy we, along with so so many others in our great town, our hearts go out to John’s beautiful family.
Respectfully and lovingly – Jamie and the team at North West Funerals.

Dr John Dyson-Berry was an integral part of Lime Medical and I know he will also be sorely missed by all the clinic staff, his patients and the broader Mildura community.
He has been such an enthusiastic part of the GP training program – giving his time and energy to train and mentor young GPs and help shape the future of our profession.
John was a reliable character at our supervisor development workshops – always there to share with his peers, to get stuck into the topics and to display his quick cheeky wit.
I know his previous trainees and colleagues appreciated his warmth and no-nonsense approach.
Thank you for your friendly smile and your life of service John and RIPA ray of sunshine was John when I worked at Mildura Base Hospital, all those years ago – I have always remembered your kindness and interest in all who crossed your path. Rest in Peace.

September 20, 2024About 5 years ago, Peter bumped into Dr. John at the office car park where they discovered a common interest in cars!
I was soon to meet him and what began as a conversation about his “troublesome dental implants” turned into a friendship, with the quirky jokes and all.
John became our family GP and we would catch up almost daily at the workplace car park- where he was usually the last to leave.
During Covid when we were in lockdown with nowhere to go, he offered us access to the family Queens Cliff home and we were amazed at what a kind and selfless man John was.
We were honoured to be invited to his 70th Birthday Party.
The news of John’s passing is devastating….
The hole you have left will not be easily filled….Our deepest and heartfelt condolences to Julie, Lauren, Emilie, Hannah and Oliver.
Fare thee well our workplace neighbour and pal.
