November 6, 2021The last time I remember speaking to him, he told me never to give up. I discovered soon after that I have arthritis, and despite trying to adapt my dream am afraid that I had nothing worthy to show him before he left.

I fondly remember him getting waterlogged at Christmas time, and chanting lymerics over lunch.I first met Dick in 1990 when he was a surveyor with the NSW Department of Lands. He was passionate about surveys along the Murray. He proposed and I accepted an offer to write guidelines on how to define the border along the Murray. We were both seeking to provide surveyors in the area confidence that their determinations would meet the law and practice approved by both the NSW and Victorian Governments. He wrote the whole thing and I was very impressed with his knowledge and desire to help his fellow surveyors. The Surveyors General of both states were also impressed by his work and they had no problem printing and distributing the guidelines to all relevant practitioners. Dick was a great bloke to work with and at all times the consummate professional. Vale Dick.

I’ll miss him, I’ll miss our down to earth chats. He will always be Mr Kernebone to me. Someone that i love and respect. Faithful, friendly and always had time to chat and make every single person feel welcome, regardless of age and origin. Praising God for his life and ministry.

Deepest condolences to all the family. Many fond memories of our family trips as kids to visit Uncle Dick, Aunty Nola and cousins. We were always out exploring the area or playing cards. Always lots of laughter and great food shared with the warmth of family love around. Distance made it hard for everyone to connect and even harder as is cousin grew up and had family of own. May you Rest In Peace Uncle Dick and you will always be remember as a beautiful family man and community leader.

1 Corinthians 15:
“52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
