He was like a father to me to Shaun, Regan and I.
You were a wonderful, kind and caring person and
Totally devastated I can not attend in person
I will never forget you, my uncle, my friend❤️
AngiePeter and I were great mates in the 1970’s and 1980’s and we had so much fun being involved in various political groups during those very vibrant and exciting times. The decade of the 1970’s saw an election either state or federal almost every year . Peter was a very astute political observer and he was there in the thick of it. He had an uncanny ability to pick trends, shine the torch on the devious and the corrupt with his tongue showing no mercy and he could see the humour in the most bizarre of political posturing!! He was not afraid to doorknock for what he believed in deep into the night yet give credit to a clever move of an opponent where credit was due. His love of Richmond Football Club was religious in its proportions and it would have been one hundred times that I heard as a hapless Collingwood supporter Peter’s version of how Kevin Bartlett turned Stan Magro inside out during the 1980 grand final. I treasure the memories of our trips to Red Cliffs to be with Peter’s family and a hilarious trip to WA. I also highly value the recent chat on the phone we had together thanks to Sue. Peter loved God and Country and Family with a Celtic passion that burned as a strong and steady flame. Peter Maskell has left a distinct mark for all to see and cherish. Love and Thoughts to you Sue and family. Peter Lawlor and Alison Beckett.
August 17, 2021Peter’s kindness and generosity will be forever remembered. He was always there to support those who needed him and was a father figure for his niece and nephews. Rest in peace.
